From January 1, 2025, Thailand will launch an e-visa system at all 94 Thai embassies and consulates worldwide. This system will allow travelers to apply for visas online, eliminating the need to physically visit embassies and file numerous documents. The e-visa system will cover tourists, students, and workers, with approved e-visas being sent to applicants via email. Additionally, tourists from 93 countries will no longer need to apply for visas in advance and can stay in Thailand for up to 60 days.
This initiative is expected to streamline the visa application process, making it more convenient and accessible for international visitors. By reducing administrative hurdles, Thailand aims to attract more tourists, boost its economy, and strengthen its position as a global travel destination.
Meanwhile, the extended 60-day visa-free stay for travelers from 93 countries is anticipated to encourage longer visits, fostering greater cultural exchange and increased spending in local communities. As part of this digital transformation, the Thai government also plans to enhance the security and efficiency of its immigration systems, ensuring a smoother experience for all incoming travelers.
