YANGON, 16 November 2016: Yangon International Airport handles over 360,000 passengers a month with 120 daily flights serving the city daily according to the latest report from Myanmar’s Civil Aviation Department.
Global New Lights of Myanmar quoted the department deputy general director, U Aung Kyaw Tun, saying the number of daily flights increased from just 40 when compared with 2014.
This year the airport should handle around 4 million passengers.
There are direct flights from Yangon International Airport to China, Japan, India, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan, Vietnam and Qatar.
Myanmar National Airlines launched, 4 November, two weekly flights from Yangon to Chiang Mai operating on Monday and Friday.
MNA will also increase frequencies on the Yangon-Singapore route from seven to 12 flights a week effective 1 December.
Air KBZ will also commence flight service connecting Yangon and Chiang Mai in Thailand starting 2 December with three weekly flights on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday.
