A small passenger plane crashed in Thailand during a domestic flight, leading to an 11-hour search without survivors. Rescue efforts were hampered by challenging conditions in mangrove mud.
Rescue teams have continued their search for survivors following a small plane crash in Thailand, but after 11 hours, no survivors were found. The Cessna Caravan C208, operated by Thai Flying Service, went missing shortly after taking off from Bangkok’s Suvarnabhumi airport on August 22, with nine people onboard, including five Chinese nationals.
The plane was headed to Ko Mai Chee airport in Trat when it lost contact around 3 PM and crashed at 3:18 PM near a temple in Bang Pakong district. Wreckage was discovered in a mangrove forest, alongside personal items belonging to the victims, including women’s clothing and a photo of three foreign women.
Local residents reported witnessing the plane’s dramatic descent. Recovery efforts faced difficulties due to high tides, leading teams to pump water and construct embankments for better access. Excavators were deployed to sift through the mud, retrieving debris from the challenging environment.
