Enhancing Thailand’s Tourism Appeal
On October 30, 2024, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and Visa signed a memorandum titled “Reshaping Thailand’s Tourism with Innovation and Advanced Data Analytics.” This MOU aims to enhance Thailand as a top travel destination during the Thailand Grand Tourism Year 2025. TAT, building on a 20-year partnership with Visa, plans to elevate tourism by using financial innovation to provide a smooth travel experience and support sustainable local economic growth.
Strategic Collaboration for Travel Excellence
TAT Governor, Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, highlighted their commitment to a 360-degree marketing approach that integrates domestic and global sectors. The partnership will capitalize on Visa’s data analytics to create focused tourism campaigns and boost digital payment services, enhancing visitor convenience. This strategic collaboration aims to increase international visitor spending from 23 crucial markets contributing over 80% of foreign arrivals and revenue.
Focus Areas Driving Sustainable Growth
The MOU outlines initiatives like the “Five Musts” program, which will feature Thailand’s top attractions and culinary experiences to boost tourist engagement. Additionally, the partnership aims to expand Visa acceptance in key provinces, improving payment convenience and supporting local businesses. Collaborative campaigns will increase global tourist attraction, while data analytics will refine strategies for engaging tourists via seasonal sales campaigns. This partnership strengthens Thailand’s position as a leading travel destination through innovation and collaboration.
