The announcement, made by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) on 25 October 2024, underscores the city’s vibrant appeal. TAT Governor, Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, expressed pride in the recognition, attributing it to Bangkok’s lively atmosphere, world-famous street food, and majestic temples. These elements, she noted, offer visitors a perfect blend of adventure and relaxation.
Acknowledging Thailand’s Global Appeal
This accolade adds to numerous awards Thailand has garnered, establishing its status as a top global travel destination. National Geographic’s selection process involved rigorous research and reporting, with its travel experts identifying Bangkok as a standout. The official announcement, titled “The 25 Best Places in the World to Travel to in 2025,” emphasized Bangkok as a must-visit location, urging travelers to explore its transformed temples.
A Cultural and Artistic Haven
National Geographic praised Bangkok for its fusion of modernity and tradition, featuring luxury shopping centers next to historic sites. The city is gaining recognition as an art and design hub, with key cultural events such as the Bangkok Art Biennale and Film Festival.
