Amazing Food Festival 2024: A Culinary Extravaganza
Phuket, 6 July 2024 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is hosting the “Amazing Food Festival 2024” to celebrate Thai food culture and promote Thailand as a top gastronomy tourism destination. The festival will occur in Phuket from 5-7 July at Central Phuket, Chiang Mai from 20-22 July at Central Festival Chiang Mai, and Prachuap Khiri Khan from 10-12 August at Hua Don Beach, Hua Hin.
Gastronomic Experiences in Phuket
Kicking off this weekend, the inaugural event in Phuket embraces a “Good Food Good Vibes” theme, showcasing Thailand’s rich culinary landscape. Dr. Phonpoom Vipattipumiprates, Vice Minister of Tourism and Sports, along with Mr. Sophon Suwanrat, Governor of Phuket, and Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, officially opened the event. This celebration aligns with the government’s ‘Ignite Tourism Thailand’ vision, emphasizing gastronomy tourism to boost the local economy.
Culinary Highlights and Sustainability Focus
The three-day event in Phuket features local signature dishes and specialty menus from MICHELIN-awarded establishments. Star chefs like Chef Big Phuripat Jaiweerattanakul and Chef Kao Vayo Nisatchanakan are set to perform cooking shows. Visitors can enjoy performances by Thai artists and explore unique activities, including art and craft booths and sustainable tourism presentations. With an expected turnout of 50,000 visitors per location, the festival aims to generate significant economic impact while promoting sustainability through waste separation and responsible tourism practices.
