The ‘ASEAN + India Shoppers in Thailand’ Activity
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) and partners have introduced the ‘ASEAN + India Shoppers in Thailand’ activity, encouraging ASEAN and Indian tourists to vote for their favorite Thai soft-power element in exchange for shopping vouchers. Scheduled to run from 29th April to 15th June 2024, this project aims to promote Thailand as a tourism hub and showcase the country’s cultural richness to visitors.
Promoting Thai Soft Power
TAT Governor, Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, highlighted the significance of this project in supporting Thailand’s soft power promotional policy and boosting awareness and sales of Thai products. Through online quizzes and gift voucher redemptions, tourists can explore Thai brands and products while experiencing the country’s influence in various areas such as food, fashion, and festivals.
Enhancing Tourism Revenue
With an expected participation of 5,000 tourists from ASEAN and India, the ‘ASEAN + India Shoppers in Thailand’ activity anticipates generating around 131 million Baht in tourism revenue. With easy access to Thailand and visa-free entry policies for many visitors, the project aims to attract more short-haul travelers and contribute to the country’s tourism industry growth.
