Social media connects us. As a business, it gives you a platform to engage with your audience in a way we’ve never seen before. No matter where they are, you can deliver interesting content right to their doorstep.
But how about when you have a large following but no signs of conversion just yet? It’s time to divert your attention towards sales.
Doing so really can work – you can take your ecommerce plans worldwide and be sure you’ll have prospects waiting for you in plenty of territories. But how do you get started? With points like those below.
What Do Your Audience Like?
Why did they start following you? And what kind of content do they engage with the most? It’s these two questions that’ll let you know what kind of products they’re interested in. They want something just as high quality as your usual stuff and they want to know they’re getting value for money. Sell something they really like and you won’t lose half of them along the way.
Follow a Sales Funnel
Adopting and using a sales funnel provides businesses with a self guided way to bring customers in at the top and right down to the checkout at the bottom. We think of it as a funnel because we want to make it easy for interested leads to slide down and out again. And if you’ve already got a large social media following, then you’ve got plenty sitting near the top just waiting for you to attract them down to the deeper level.
That means you need to leverage this following for the sake of your product or service. You can do this in a variety of ways, but you should always start on social media right where your potential prospects are.
For example, let them know you’re selling something, create hype for it through your posts, and then make it very easy to go from their feed to the checkout on your website. Then keep following your sales funnel to track your leads as they go and make sure the majority of them are reaching the bottom.
Don’t Forget to Keep Creating Content
Don’t let your ecommerce success become a one time thing. Keep making content once you’ve converted a good portion of your following into paying customers. You need to keep providing value once you’re in the right place to sell something; without this content, you won’t be able to bridge the gap between your following and the success you want to achieve.
Worst of all, without content creation, your followers will start to think you’ve forgotten about and/or don’t value them anymore. You got what you wanted when they bought something and now you’re only interested in getting more sales; don’t let your initial sense of trust erode down to a sentiment like this.
If you’ve got plenty of followers on social media, turn them into a satisfied paying customer base. It’s a surefire way to ecommerce success!
