Facebook unplugs Thai military propaganda
Facebook said it deleted accounts intended for targeted audiences in the southern provinces of Thailand, where Muslim insurgent groups fight with the Thai military.
Facebook announced that it has removed 185 military-run Thailand accounts and groups – the first time the US content-sharing company has removed accounts linked to the Thai government.
Accounts were removed after Facebook found evidence of “coordinated inauthentic behavior” on the platform which included 77 accounts, 72 pages and 18 groups on Facebook and 18 accounts on Instagram.
Those accounts targeted audiences in the southern provinces of Thailand, where a decade long conflict opposes Muslim insurgent groups to Thai military to demand independence.
