One of the most pressing challenges facing Thailand today is the poor quality of its education system. Despite spending a large share of its national budget on education, Thailand has consistently performed poorly in international assessments of student achievement, such as the Programme for International Student Assessment (PISA) and the Trends in International Mathematics and Science Study (TIMSS).
