Cabinet cut diesel tax by one baht per liter for three months to ease consumer financial burden.
Cabinet Cuts Excise Tax on Diesel
The cabinet has approved a reduction in the excise tax on diesel by one baht per litre for a period of three months, starting from January 20 to April 19. This decision aims to alleviate the financial burden on consumers. However, it is estimated that the state will incur a revenue loss of about Bt6 billion during this period.
Cost and Management
According to Deputy Finance Minister Julapun Amornvivat, the government will strive to manage energy prices in alignment with global oil prices. The goal is to ensure that the adjustment will not overly strain the national budget in the long run.
Government Policy and Plans
Julapun emphasized that the government does not have a fixed pricing policy for diesel, and there are no intentions to decrease benzine prices at this time. This decision aligns with the government’s commitment to balancing the needs of consumers with the country’s fiscal responsibilities.
