Thailand has expanded its visa-free entry scheme to include citizens from 93 countries, allowing them to stay for up to 60 days without a visa. This new policy aims to boost tourism and make travel to Thailand more convenient for visitors from a wide range of countries.
- The Ministry of Interior has updated visa measures to attract foreign tourists and stimulate the economy, including exempting passport holders from 93 countries/territories from visa requirements for up to 60 days.
- The list of countries eligible for Visa on Arrival (VOA) at immigration checkpoints has been increased from 19 to 31 countries/territories.
- A new Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) has been introduced, allowing foreigners to stay in Thailand for up to 180 days at a time for tourism and remote work, with the visa valid for 5 years.
These updates include expanding the list of countries exempt from visa requirements, increasing the number of countries eligible for Visa on Arrival, introducing a new Destination Thailand Visa for remote work and tourism, and extending the stay of foreign students for employment opportunities after graduation. The announcements are set to come into effect from July 15, 2024.

The new Destination Thailand Visa (DTV)
The Thailand Destination Visa (DTV) is a new visa category for remote workers and digital nomads. This visa allows you to stay in Thailand for up to 180 days per visit, with a validity of five years. It offers multiple entry, which means that you can enter and exit the country multiple times during the validity period of the visa.
- Skilled foreigners, digital nomads, freelancers, and those who engage in activities such as Muay Thai learning, cooking, sports training, medical treatments, seminars, and art and music events.
- Spouses and legal children (under 20 years of age) of DTV holders.
Proof of financial support or guarantee of at least 500,000 baht for the duration of the stay. - The DTV will allow a stay of up to 180 days, with a visa fee of 10,000 baht, valid for 5 years. The stay can be extended once for an additional 180 days with an additional fee of 10,000 baht.
Improvement of the conditions of stay for foreign students
- International students pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher on a nonimmigrant (ED) visa will have an easier time finding work and staying in Thailand after graduation.
- Extended stay of 1 year after graduation for job search, travel or other activities, with certification from the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation.
Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Anutin Charnvirakul reviewed and signed the four announcements, which were submitted to the Prime Minister for signature. They will then be published in the Royal Gazette, all measures will enter into force simultaneously from 15 July 2024.
