In a move to boost tourism and business ties, Thailand has announced that it will waive visa requirements for Japanese business travelers for a period of three years, starting next year.
Thailand has waived visa requirements for Japanese business travelers from January 1, 2024, to December 31, 2026. This decision was made by the Thai Cabinet on December 12, 2023. Japanese nationals holding passports or travel documents can enter Thailand for business purposes and stay for up to 30 days without needing a visa[1]. This move aims to facilitate business visits and strengthen economic ties between Thailand and Japan. The visa exemption for Japanese business travelers aligns with Thailand’s efforts to attract foreign investment and promote business activities in the country[2].
his visa exemption applies to individuals engaged in business activities such as attending meetings, conferences, exhibitions, or conducting business negotiations. However, it’s important to note that this visa waiver is solely for business purposes and does not extend to tourism or other activities.
To take advantage of this visa exemption, Japanese business travelers must present relevant documentation upon arrival in Thailand, including a valid passport, a return flight ticket, and proof of business purpose, such as an invitation letter from a Thai company or organization.
As of November 10, 2023, Thailand has introduced a visa waiver for Indian tourists. This allows individuals with Indian passports or travel documents to stay visa-free for up to 30 days for leisure purposes. The initiative will be effective until May 10, 2024, and is in line with similar programs for Chinese and Russian tourists.
