The Tourism Authority of Thailand promoted overland travel and bullet trains for Chinese tourists to visit the Isan region at the China International Travel Mart.
TAT promotes overland travel for Chinese tourists to Thailand
The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) participated in the China International Travel Mart (CITM) 2023 to promote overland travel via caravan and the Kunming-Vientiane bullet trains for Chinese tourists to explore the Northeastern or ‘Isan’ region of Thailand. The event presented a great opportunity for Thai sellers to strengthen business with their Chinese partners. The CITM 2023 also highlighted the fact that Chinese tourists can visit Thailand without a visa until the end of February 2024.
Kunming-Vientiane bullet trains as new travel options for Chinese tourists
TAT Governor, Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, emphasized that the Kunming-Vientiane bullet trains present new travel options for Chinese tourists to come and discover the diverse and culturally rich ‘Isan’ region in Thailand. This is in line with the changing travel trends of Chinese tourists post-COVID-19, especially among millennials and the younger generation. Via the Kunming-Vientiane bullet trains, Chinese tourists can enter Thailand at Nong Khai, a border town in the Isan region.
Thailand Stand showcases Isan at the CITM 2023
The Thailand Stand at the CITM 2023 showcased the unique and colorful character of the Isan region, offering visitors DIY workshops on traditional crafts, Thai massage, and portrait painting. The stand included 20 Thai tourism businesses such as tour operators, hotels, resorts, tourist attractions, hospitals, and airlines. TAT is continuing to promote Thailand in the Chinese market with a focus on affluent travelers and the ‘4 Mores’ strategy for 2024.
