Thai MP Shares Thoughts on Digital Wallet Scheme
A Pheu Thai Party MP explains that the government’s 10,000-baht stipend through digital wallets is not related to blockchain technology. The government aims to stimulate the economy and generate tax revenue.
Government Program for Digital Wallet Stipend
A Member of Parliament (MP) from the Pheu Thai Party has clarified that the government’s program to provide a 10,000-baht stipend through a digital wallet is separate from the initiative to create a cash circulation system through blockchain technology. MP Worawat Ear-apinyakul explained that the program aims to incentivize investments and stimulate the economy, rather than simply giving away free money. The ultimate outcome will be tax revenue for the government.
The Distribution of Government Funding
Worawat pointed out that there is an annual surplus of 4.8 trillion baht outside the government’s regular budget. He emphasized the importance of considering how and when the government will distribute this wealth into the financial system for the benefit of the public. Worawat expressed confidence in the Pheu Thai Party’s economic team’s ability to find the right moment to implement policies that promote financial security, such as the issuance of 50 million rai of land titles.
Focusing on Tourism to Boost the Economy
The MP highlighted the government’s focus on tourism as a primary goal to boost the economy. He expressed optimism that the government can efficiently resolve the country’s economic issues. Worawat also mentioned projects aimed at increasing citizens’ income through job creation and raising One Tambon One Product (OTOP) workgroups to industrial levels. He believes that these efforts will lead to prosperity for the public within four years.
